Kiss of Sakura, Lilian, Dodecahedral Calendar

It’s my first time making this and the units were a bit confusing at first because you need to make them all facing the right way. I bought a 500 sheet colored memo cube for folding purposes. The cube wasn’t exactly a cube considering how the length is 1 mm longer then the width. This Kiss of Sakura ended up looking a bit messy but it’s the only kusudama I’ve kept for myself so far (it’s so sloppy to give away). I started a blue one and this time I cut of 1 mm from each sheet with a razor because I wanted to make it neater—I’ve yet to finish it though; been putting it on hold for a while now :suspicious: The paper is a bit thicker than origami paper but I like this kusudama a lot  Tanya created it as a substitution for Fuse’s Sakura (Cherry Blossom) globe. The diagram for this can be found in her gallery :book:

I apologize for the dark images but I closed the lights because I didn’t know how to turn off flash on my camera (now I do). I made like six of these, each a different monochromatic theme and gave them away to relatives (though I’m not sure they appreciated receiving paper for Christmas). Two relatives forgot to take the Lilian I gave them so I gave it away to friends :dead:

I came across this awesome calendar and decided to make one (though a little of the print out got cut off for me :upset: ) You can make your own too and in different languages! Click here to get the template.

Today is New Year’s according to the Lunar Calendar so I wish everyone who celebrate it a prosperous new year! It took awhile but I’ve finally come around to cleaning my desk to welcome the New Year after putting this off for several months and days…and decided to finish it all last minute yesterday. It took longer than I’d expected.
